Since ancient times, Sintaein-eup in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do, has been known for its hearty and flavorful gukbap.
Over 60 years ago, the area was home to many beloved gukbap spots such as Shinshinok, Juksanok, Jangheungok, and Osu-gwan.
Among them, ‘Shinshinok,’ founded by Shin Sun-ae, was especially well known. It was later passed down to her sister-in-law, Jo Geum-ja, who ran it under the name 'Shin Jin-ok' near Sintaein Station for over 20 years, earning a loyal local following.
Today, that legacy lives on through Shin Eun-mi, the eldest daughter who returned to Korea after years in Australia.
Now in Suseong-dong, Jeongeup, the tradition continues under the name Shingane Jeongeup Gukbap — a name that carries the heart and soul of three generations and over 60 years of flavor and care.
Shingane Jeongeup Gukbap was first established in 1958 in Sintaein-eup, Jeongeup-si, Jeollabuk-do, originally under the name "Shinshinok."
It began as one of the very first gukbap restaurants in the area.
For over 60 years and through three generations,
